Article databases Online Contents
The database OLC-SSG South Asia offers currently access to table of contents of 227 journals relevant to the study and research on culture, politics and languages of South Asia. The journals are generally indexed back to the year 1993. Thus, the database contains app. 138,256 records of journal articles and reviews.
The database is a subject oriented selection of bibliographic data from the Swets Database Online Contents. It is regularly enlarged by table of contents data from additional periodicals out of the special collections of the Library of the South Asia Institute at Heidelberg University.
The article database OLC-SSG Asia and North Africa contains the three OLC databases East- and Southeast Asia, South Asia and Near East/North Africa and facilitates the search for articles focussing on these three geographical areas.
Information on access to the databases
Access is free for members of academic institutions all over Europe and the USA, which mostly have been already registered with the Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbund (GBV). If you find you cannot access the database, this might because your institution has not yet been registered with the GBV or your internet address is unknown to the GBV. For libraries registration with the GBV is possible via an online request form.
If you are a member of an academic institution, you can also access the database from your working place at home without any problems. For this purpose you need a personal password, which you can request via E-Mail.
Do the OLC databases offer access to electronic full texts?
OLC-SSG South Asia can be used as a bibliographic database as well as an access point to Inter Library Loan (ILL) and the document delivery services Subito.
Because access to full text depends on license agreements with the publishers we cannot offer this service here. You will find a selection of electronic journals with access to full text here.
